School of the Future 
The core of the School of the Future project is the realisation of the retrofit demonstration projects of 4 schools buildings in 4 different European countries (Germany, Italy, Denmark and Norway) which cover most of the climate conditions in Europe. The focus is on energy saving, energy efficiency and implementation of renewable energy with at the same time high indoor environment quality and related to that improved pupils’ performance.
The success of the retrofits shall be measured by the realisation of the following goals:
- Reduction of the total energy use > factor 3, verified through monitoring
- Reduction of the heating energy use > 75 %, verified through monitoring
- Improvement of the indoor environment quality (air, daylight, acoustic, thermal comfort) with impact on the pupils’ performance to be analysed by short-term measurements and questionnaires
